This Privacy Policy describes how the UpKwest Extension ("the Extension," "we," "us," or "our"), developed by UpKwest, processes information when you use our Chrome browser extension.

The UpKwest Extension is designed to work as a companion to the UpKwest web application (upkwest.vercel.app), allowing you to easily add job applications from any web page you visit directly to your UpKwest account.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data in a transparent manner, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable privacy laws.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what information the UpKwest Extension processes, how we use it, and your rights concerning that information. By using the UpKwest Extension, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Process

The UpKwest Extension itself is designed to be privacy-conscious. It does not collect personal data from your device or browser in the background without your explicit action.

When you actively use the UpKwest Extension to add a job application, you initiate the processing of certain information:

User-Initiated Job Application Data: When you activate the Extension and choose to save a job application, the Extension will access the visible content and URL of your active browser tab to extract relevant job details such as job title, company name, job description, application link, and the page URL. This information is processed locally within your browser and transmitted to the UpKwest web application only upon your confirmation to save the job.
UpKwest Account Information: To link the saved job application to your personal account on the UpKwest web application (upkwest.vercel.app), the Extension will access your existing authentication token or session information for the UpKwest web application. This allows the Extension to securely identify you to the UpKwest web application without requiring you to re-enter your full credentials. The Extension does not store your full UpKwest account credentials.

Browser Permissions: No specific browser permissions are required by the Extension to access your data beyond what is necessary for its stated functionality (i.e., accessing the active tab's content when you explicitly trigger the "add job" action).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information processed by the UpKwest Extension solely for the following purpose:

Core Functionality: To enable you to easily save job application details from your active browser tab directly to your personalized UpKwest account on the UpKwest web application (upkwest.vercel.app). This includes extracting job details and associating them with your user profile on the UpKwest web application.

We do not use your information for advertising, analytics, or any other purpose not directly related to the Extension's core functionality as described.

The UpKwest Extension does not integrate with any third-party SDKs or services that collect data from you.

The primary purpose of the UpKwest Extension is to interact with the UpKwest web application (upkwest.vercel.app). Therefore, the job application data and your UpKwest account information (specifically, your authentication token/session) collected via the Extension are transmitted to the UpKwest web application to be saved to your personal account on that service. The UpKwest web application's own Privacy Policy will govern how it handles the data once received.

The UpKwest Extension Developer (UpKwest Extension) does not sell your personal data.

Since the Extension primarily facilitates the transfer of data to the UpKwest web application, the retention of your job application data will be governed by the UpKwest web application's own data retention policy and your account status within that service.
